eCig - The Newest Must Have Celebrity Trend

Posted by Alex L. on

What do Leonardo DiCaprio, Dennis Quaid and Robert Patterson all have in common? If you guessed “never won an Oscar” you'd be right. But more than that, all of them are users of electronic cigarettes.

All of that has changed in recent times as there has been a push to remove cigarettes from television and films. Many celebrities looking for a tobacco alternative have found the answer with e-cigarettes.

Tobacco and second-hand smoke free, electronic cigarettes offeradvantages not found in regular cigarettes. E-cigs are a vapor  device which works by heating a nicotine solution that is inhaled in the same way as a regular cigarette, without the accompanying odor or annoying smoke.

E-cigs are reusable, making them cheaper than regular cigarettes, with the added benefit being there is no worry about emptying messy ashtrays or washing smelly clothes.

As evidence of the newfound status of e-cigs in Hollywood, Johnny Depp's character in the 2010 thriller The Tourist was smoking an e-cig, with his character commenting on the fact he could smoke indoors, as part of the movie's dialogue. The prominent role of an electronic cigarette in a movie is a testament to the rising status of e-cigs in Hollywood.

Anyone who grew up in the 60's and 70's will remember the days when Johnny Carson would be seen smoking while interviewing his guests - something that would never happen in today's health conscious environment. But with today's e-cig the rules have changed, as evidenced by former Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl who whipped out an e-cig during an appearance on the David Letterman show, offering the late night host a puff (which he gladly accepted).

American Idol producer and former judge Simon Cowell has been using e-cigarettes to curb his two pack a day smoking habit, while other e-cig smokers from the music industry include Katy Perry, Brittney Spears, Robbie Williams and One Directions' Zayn Malik. And in the fashion world, models Alexa Chung and Kate Moss are e-cig enthusiasts.

With Jenny McCarthy, Charlie Sheen and Lindsey Lohan all smoking e-cigs, the vapor smoking device is quickly becoming the must-have celebrity accessory. Even Jennifer Collidge's character on the CBS hit TV show Two Broke Girls was smoking an e-cig. Providing the ability to smoke without annoying those around you, e-cigarettes are
gaining acceptance and becoming the newest trend to overtake Hollywood, and the accessory celebrities smokers don't want to be without
